Part of the series: “Staying Focused on What God Says About Your Life”
Day 2: Diligence is Planned Daily
Proverbs 13:4 – The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.
Well, that pretty much sums it up! You’d have to hire someone to help you misunderstand that one.
Wanting something doesn’t automatically translate into action. But if you want to see results, and actually achieve that desire, action is required. Not just any action… diligent action.
Desires are a good thing. God gave us desires as motivation to achieve the plan He has for us.
Unfortunately, the adversary (Satan) is working hard to discourage us from that goal. He uses distraction techniques; “Hey look over there…”, “Don’t forget you need to…”, and a million other thoughts to interrupt and cloud our day-to-day routine. And if you’re not being distracted, watch out for procrastination techniques; “I’ll do it after I watch this program” or “after a nap” or “I’ll do it tomorrow” (but tomorrow never comes.)
Avoid the pitfalls of distractions and procrastination by making a daily plan. Yes, every day! Make a to-do list. Set written daily goals, and then work from that list. It will keep you moving forward and on-task toward that bigger goal.
This is how successful people accomplish so much. They don’t leave it to memory and hope that it gets done. Everything is done with purpose.
Are you ready to be “the diligent” who is “made rich”? Start now. Make a habit of writing your daily plan and work it… starting today. What is left undone at the end of the day becomes the beginning of tomorrow’s checklist. Review, revise, and get ready to start again the next day.
Only the “lazy man desires and has nothing.” Don’t be that guy!
